Today, STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN is one of the leading chemical sales companies in Germany and is represented in three locations in southern Germany. Its core business is the chemical trade. Two years ago, we settled three bee colonies on our premises in Gablingen. “We have four guiding principles. Sustainability is one of them, and we want to do our bit,” says Andreas Frank, Managing Director of STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN.
For two years, our busy bees have been buzzing around our very own beehives on our expansive grounds in Gablingen, near Augsburg. Together with the Gablingen Beekeeper’s Association, we have successfully closed off a second honey season and harvested 50 kg of honey.
The delicious honey is sold to employees and the proceeds donated to a different non-profit organization every year.
At the start of the sustainable project, STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN decided to match the proceeds of the honey sales to double the total amount.
As well as honey sales, we raised additional money this year with a company tombola. The tombola was a great success among all 200 employees at the three sites in Gablingen, Munich and Nuremberg, adding an extra €1,000 to the total donated amount. “I would like to say a big thank you to all our employees for their generous donations!” says Andreas Frank, Managing Director of STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN.
The choice of which organization the funds are donated to is made by the employees themselves. Helmut Weisl, Works Council at the Munich site, made the pre-selection of two charitable organizations in Bavaria, after which they were voted on by employees. Since the vote was “neck and neck” and STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN increased the original amount of the honey proceeds with funds from the tombola, Mr Weisl decided to give the donation to both organizations. “We are pleased to have donated €1,100 each to Harl.e.kin-Nachsorge in Bavaria and the Kinderklinik Garmisch-Partenkirchen gGmbH!” says Helmut Weisl.
Harl.e.kin-Nachsorge in Bavaria is a consulting program for families with premature and high-risk babies with the aim of supporting the families with the transition from the children’s hospital to home, and helping them adjust to their new life situation.
The Kinderklinik Garmisch-Partenkirchen gGmbH is an independent institution and non-profit organization of the Evangelical Church in Bavaria. It consists of the German Center for Pediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology, the Center for Pain Therapy in Young People and the Social Pediatric Center of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Our donation will fund and support the work of the Kinderklinik Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
