Responsible Care is the chemical industry’s commitment to the safe, responsible and sustainable management of chemicals throughout their entire life cycle.
Topics discussed at the conference included all EHS&S matters such as process safety, environmental justice, sustainability, product stewardship, cybersecurity and crisis & emergency management.
The headline speaker for the event was four-star General and supply chain expert, Gen. Gustavo Perna (Ret.). He assisted with leading Operation Warp Speed and discussed the challenges involved in delivering nearly 400 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine under a tight deadline, and how it correlated with overcoming supply chain issues.
Garcia, EHS Manager and a nominee for the 2023 Responsible Care & Sustainability Future Leaders program stated, “we are committed to finding best practices to continuously improve our Responsible Care program to enhance our environmental, health, safety and security performance, benefiting our stakeholders. This conference gives us that opportunity through networking, informational sessions and in-depth discussions.”
Woodland, responsible for engineering, was particularly interested in hearing about the various techniques of data collection and engineering controls. "Data collection techniques help our team determine how to solve problems and make sound decisions,” she stated, “and engineering controls help us to ensure a safe working environment. This was my first time attending the conference and I was very pleased with the topics and information provided by the ACC, its members and session speakers.”
After nearly 35 years since the Responsible Care inception, it is practiced by ACC member companies in nearly 70 countries and data shows positive changes in the chemical industry because of their hard work and dedication to the program’s initiatives.
