Your STOCKMEIER Personal Care Team

STOCKMEIER

From Cosmetic Business in Munich to SEPAWA in Berlin

The STOCKMEIER Personal Care Team looks back on a successful trade fair appearance at Cosmetic Business 2023 in Munich.

This trade fair once again offered an ideal platform to present our broad product portfolio and trend solutions in research and development to the expert audience from the countries of the DACH-CEE region.

We were accompanied by two supplier partners. With Chemipol, S.A. we presented safe and innovative preservative systems and with Innospec Ltd. 1,4-dioxane-free specialty surfactants.

The orange STOCKMEIER booth was a crowd puller and well attended throughout. There was a great deal of interest in the possibility to obtain various products from our corresponding portfolio in one delivery from one distribution partner. Our offer enables this profitable reduction of complexity. Accordingly, it is gladly accepted by the customers.

The STOCKMEIER Personal Care Team has once again shown how innovative distribution can be in cosmetics. Customers and supplier partners were inspired, new business opportunities were opened up and the existing position in the personal care sector was strenghened.

ROCK SOLID! We'll keep it up and look forward to Berlin.

Our formulations part 2

In our last issue, we introduced you to three formulations that won the Silver Award at in-cosmetics in Barcelona under the motto "ROCK SOLID". In this part, we present three more innovative formulations from our Formulation Kit 2023:

1. Shake & Use Body Milk Shake

The highly effective thickener and emulsifier Texique® HE10 forms the water phase into a thick gel. By adding up to 30% oils and emulsifiers, an emulsion can be created by vigorous shaking. The combination of almond oil, Aprisoft IPP and Rofetan 188 (Ethylhexyl Stearate) spreads well and provides a pleasant skin feel.

2. Melt & Pour Solid Perfume Stick

This solid perfume stick is alcohol-free and melts at body temperature. BRB Caprylyl Methicone and BRB DM 55 (Dimethicone) provide a uniquely light and dry skin feel. The combination of beeswax and the fatty alcohols Ecorol 16/98 and Ecorol 18/98 increase the viscosity, provide a butter-like texture and show a pleasant melting behaviour.

3. Shake & Use Oil to Milk Cleanser

This oil-based formula transforms into a milky cleanser that removes make-up without drying or irritating the skin, leaving it soft and velvety. APPYCLEAN 6512G (Caprylic/Lauryl Wheat Bran/Straw Glycosides) gently cleanses the skin without leaving a greasy feeling. The combination of NOVACOS PG4 TIS (Polyglyceryl 4-Isostearate) and Sympatens W/4500 (Sorbitan Oleate, Polyglyceryl-3-Polyricinoleate) acts as a co-emulsifier, transforming the oil into a creamy milk that is easier to rinse off with water and removes residues.

Our extensive raw material portfolio and our own laboratory in our House of Innovations give us even more opportunities to pick up on trends and present novel formulations. We will continue to provide you with new ideas in the future.

Treme-HA

Treme-HA® - „next level“ Hyaluronic Acid from a beauty mushroom

Tremella fuciformis, also known as silver ear or snow fungus, is an Asian edible mushroom. It belongs to the jelly fungus family and looks like a white, gelatinous flower. The mushroom is rich in polysaccharides, which have very good water-binding and antioxidant properties.

Treme-HA® (INCI: Tremella Fuciformis Polysaccharides) is a white powder extracted from the beauty mushroom. This water-soluble polymer improves skin feel, moisturises and protects the skin from oxidative stress. The recommended concentration for use is 0.01 % to 0.5 %. The active ingredient is 100% natural and vegan.

Chemipol, S.A.

Chemipol, S.A. - our new supplier partner for preservation

Chemipol's SENSICARE® C and BIOPOL® product range includes a number of antimicrobial formulations specifically designed for different marketing strategies and budgets. They always provide optimal efficacy and protection against germs to make cosmetics safe for consumers. Cosmetic raw materials also often require a preservative to provide sufficient shelf life until they are used in production.

With the preservative selector tool COSMOPOL, a new application for formulation developers has been created to assist in selecting the optimal preservative system.

After entering the formulation criteria, one receives suggestions as to which preservatives and concentrations can be used to best protect the formulation. This facilitates the selection and reduces the number of preservative challenge tests necessary.

5 questions to ...

Sonja Gehm

Sales and Product Manager Life Science

1. How did you get into the field of Personal Care?

During my apprenticeship at the former Hoechst AG, I went through various companies in the Hoechst industrial park and by chance I had the opportunity to get a taste of cosmetics in spring. That was a highlight, because even earlier, when I bought my first cosmetics for myself, I wanted to understand the INCI declarations that are given on the packaging of cosmetics and formulate cosmetics myself.

2. What do you enjoy most about your daily work?

I love variety and creativity. In the personal care industry, there is news every day: new brands, customers, raw materials, concepts, regulations, etc. It never gets boring here, there are always opportunities to bring in own ideas and in the end you can even buy the final product, you were involved in developing, in the shop and try it out for yourself.

3. Which products particularly inspire you?

During my time in the personal care industry, I got to know many different raw materials for cosmetics. All of them are exciting and important to be able to accompany this innovative market. Contrary to the ongoing trend of natural raw materials, I still love the skin feel of silicones, you can't replace this sensory experience with another raw material. My cosmetic heart beats most for hair care ingredients, such as cationic surfactants, care components (active ingredients, vitamins, oils) for the hair.

4. What's your wish for Personal Care in the future?

What I would like most of all is that consumer demands come closer to scientific facts for raw materials. Our customers are very end-market and claim-driven, so functional raw materials that are safe still don't get a chance because they have a "bad" reputation among consumers.

5. What is your balance to the daily work routine?

Just as varied. My husband and I are lucky to be able to support and accompany our 10-year-old son, who has just as many interests as we do, in his development. So it always remains exciting.

Beautiful hands
