Dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethylacetamide (DMAc) and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) are used in various syntheses and intermediates in the chemical, plastics, synthetic resin, paint and coatings industries. These organic solvents are mainly sourced from Eastman's production sites in Leuna and Ghent.
In Germany, the products are from now on distributed by STOCKMEIER Chemie. In Austria, distribution is handled by the affiliate HDS-Chemie with headquarters in Vienna.

NMP
N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) is a high-boiling, polar aprotic, low-viscosity liquid. NMP has a good solvency for a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds. It is miscible with water at all temperatures and has a high chemical and thermal stability. It is used as a solvent for engineering polymers and coating resins. The pharmaceutical industry uses NMP as a reaction and purification solvent.
DMF
Dimethylformamide (DMF) is a clear, colorless, polar aprotic liquid. It is frequently used for chemical reactions and other applications which require a high solvency power. The high solubility of polyacrylonitrile in DMF, together with the good miscibility of DMF in water, makes DMF the preferred solvent to produce acrylic fibers. Another significant application is the use of DMF as a solvent for polyurethane-based coatings on leather and artificial leather fabrics. The pharmaceutical and agrochemical industries use DMF as a reaction and crystallization solvent because of its exceptional solvency parameters.
DMAC
Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is a colorless, high-boiling, polar aprotic, hygroscopic liquid. DMAC is a good solvent for a wide range of organic and inorganic compounds. It is miscible with water, ethers, esters, ketones, and aromatics compounds. It is used in the production of polyacrylonitrile and polyurethane-based fibers, films, and coatings. The polar aprotic nature of DMAC enables it to act as a combined solvent and reaction catalyst in many reactions producing high yields and pure product in short time periods.
