AdBlue®

A necessity for all Euro 4, 5 and 6 diesel engines

AdBlue® cleverly combines environmental friendliness and economy. AdBlue® reduces the emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx), and the cutting-edge SCR technology cuts diesel consumption by around 7%.

STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN provides flexible, expert service relating to all aspects of AdBlue®. We supply loose and packed goods by well-known producers at short notice. Our plastics department can advise you on technical questions, and can provide support with the construction of tank systems and piping. We only supply AdBlue® in special containers. The product quality of AdBlue® conforms to ISO 22241 and DIN 70070 standards. We conduct thorough checks to ensure that these standards are adhered to.

What is AdBlue®?

AdBlue® (ISO 22241 and DIN 70070/AUS32) is a synthetically manufactured 32.5% solution of high-purity urea. It is clear like water, non-poisonous, and completely safe to handle. It is non-flammable and non-explosive. AdBlue® poses no danger to the environment and is not a hazardous substance according to the German Ordinance on Hazardous Substances. As a chemical solution, it has been classed in the lowest Water Pollution Class 1. AdBlue® is neither a fuel nor a fuel additive.

AdBlue® is transported in a separate tank in your car or commercial vehicle. AdBlue® consumption is around 3-5% of the diesel fuel consumption. How often you need to refill the tank depends on the size of the AdBlue® tank in your car or truck, and on your driving style.

STAUB & CO. – SILBERMANN supplies AdBlue® in transport equipment and containers used exclusively for AdBlue®.

  • If AdBlue® comes into contact with the skin, you need only rinse the area with water.
  • AdBlue® is broken down by microbes and is therefore biodegradable.
  • Small quantities can be flushed into the sewage system without causing problems.

How should it be stored?

In order to avoid quality impairments caused by impurities, and increased time and effort spent on inspection, only dedicated storage and filling systems may be used for AdBlue®. When stored correctly, AdBlue® will meet the ISO 22241 and DIN 70070/AUS32 standards for at least 18 months after production.

AdBlue® becomes solid at -11 °C. However, due to the heating integrated into the AdBlue® tank systems, it quickly becomes liquid again and fulfills its function in the SCR exhaust system without any loss of quality. It decays more quickly at storage temperatures above 30°C. Storage and filling systems are therefore set for a temperature range of -11 °C to 30 °C.
