About Molochite®
What ist Molochite®?
A strong raw material for foundry
Molochite® is a hard, abrasion-resistant and refractory aluminum silicate, produced through the calcination of certain china clays. High-quality kaolin chamotte does not contain any particulate iron impurities and does not exhibit silica phases like quartz or cristobalate.
Its low, uniform thermal expansion makes it exceptionally resistant to changes in temperature. Its rough surface texture enables excellent chemical and mechanical integration.
Molochite® is available in the form of numerous open and closed grain sizes and ground powders.
Field of application
The most important application that Molochite® is used in is the construction of molds for investment casting after the lost wax process. A particular advantage is the dimensional accuracy of the cast parts, thanks to its low, linear thermal expansion.
Molochite® is also used in cordierite kiln furniture. Its high purity makes Molochite® an exceptional material for chamotted sanitary mixes and all kinds of refractory bricks and molded parts.
