Located in Cerro de Pasco in the Peruvian Andes, Estadio Daniel Alcides Carrión is widely recognized for its remarkable elevation and serves as an important venue for regional sports and community activities.
As part of the facility's renovation, Sport Pampo installed a four-lane athletics track using STOCKMEIER Urethanes' Stobitan® SW polyurethane running track system for the Local Government of Cerro de Pasco.
Performance at an Extraordinary Altitude
More than four kilometers above sea level, the stadium presents a setting unlike that of a typical sports facility. The high-altitude environment of the Peruvian Andes makes durability, stability and long-term reliability important considerations when selecting materials for outdoor athletic surfaces.
Stobitan® SW is a water-impermeable sandwich running track system designed to provide a durable and reliable surface for training and competition. Its multilayer construction combines performance and resilience to meet the demands placed on modern athletics facilities.
The newly renovated track provides athletes in Cerro de Pasco with an upgraded surface for training and competition within a stadium known around the world for its exceptional location.
A New Standard Across the Facility
The athletics track isn't the only major upgrade at Estadio Daniel Alcides Carrión.
As part of the stadium's renovation, a new synthetic football turf system was tested and certified to the FIFA Quality Pro standard.
FIFA Quality Pro is the organization's higher performance standard for artificial football turf installations intended for professional-level football. The certification involves laboratory and field-testing covering areas including player-surface interaction, ball-surface interaction, weather resistance and durability.
Together, the upgraded football field and new Stobitan® SW athletics track represent a significant investment in the future of sport in Cerro de Pasco—providing athletes and the surrounding community with modern surfaces in a truly remarkable location.
Taking Stobitan® to New Heights
For STOCKMEIER Urethanes, the project demonstrates the versatility of our polyurethane sports surfacing technologies and the ability of our systems to serve facilities in diverse environments around the world.
From community athletic facilities to a four-lane running track nearly 4,378 meters above sea level in the Peruvian Andes, Stobitan® SW is helping create surfaces built for performance, durability and the demands of the sport.
